My Philosophy of Education

Third grade is such an exciting learning adventure. As a teacher I want to help my students grow academically, socially and emotionally. My students will be able to experience different types of teaching styles in order to accommodate the various types of learners. My goal is to create an environment where each student can feel safe enough to take risks and be excited about school. At the end of the year, I hope each child will leave my classroom making responsible decisions and be encouraged to achieve all of their hopes and aspirations.

My Education

I was born and raised right here in Nevada County! I graduated from Sacramento State University and obtained my teaching credential in 1985. I taught at Alta Sierra Elementary School for four years and then took time off to spend with my two fabulous children. I joined the wonderful Union Hill staff in 1992 and taught first grade for one year before moving to kindergarten. After spending the next 13 years in kindergarten I had the opportunity to teach third grade and I love it!

My Family and Hobbies

Currently, along with being a school teacher, I love spending time with my family: husband Paul, son Erik, daughter Molly, son-in-law Robert and my new precious grand daughter, Kinley! When I’m not there, you can find me training for a triathlon.
